Now, you can mouse in the grace notes AS grace notes. In PrintMusic, Simple Entry, click the eight note icon. I was glad to find the workaround of merging one-beat measures, but perhaps the MakeMusic folks would like to look into this little glitch. (Is there a way to enter grace notes AS grace notes, without having to enter them as regular notes first?) When I changed back to the original time signature, I got the wacky notes again. Thanks - I did try that, but to get the grace notes in after entering the triplets, I had to temporarily change the time signature so that Finale would let me enter the grace notes. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.įavorite reference: Essential Dictionary of Music Notation, Gerou & Lusk, 1996 What happens if you do the triplets first, and then go back and add in the grace notes? There have been a number of odd things that happen with complex tuplets, probably because of the math that Finale uses to calculate them not dividing properly. Just wanted to add that I successfully worked around the problem by creating four 1/4 measures, copying the triplet figure into each measure, and then merging all four into a single 4/4 measure. Is this a known bug? Am I doing something wrong? Other partial-measure copy operations work fine. When I try to change the resulting merged measure back to the 4/4 time signature, I get the mass of notes again. So, as a workaround, I tried copying the figure to empty adjacent bars and using the Merge Measure plugin, which alters the time signature. When I try to copy to an empty bar, it works fine. I have no problem creating the first triplet, but when I try to copy the figure to the next beat, I get a strange mass of many, many notes, some appearing to be 128th (or less) notes. Each chord in the triplet has a slash grace note. I'm trying to transcribe a 4/4 bar of music containing 4 eighth-note-chord triplets.
